Controlled synthesis of poly(vinyl acetate) by traditional radical emulsion polymerization

A new redox initiation system, potassium persulfate/N,N-dimethylethanolamine, was used to initiate traditional radical emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate at low temperature. Polymers were characterized using gel permeation chromatography, scanning electron microscopy and dynamic light scattering. The results showed that poly(vinyl acetate) with high molar mass and small dispersity (Đ) was successfully synthesized.
