Researchers from Hongkong used MnO2 particles in order to reduce the fire hazards of epoxy resin since MnO2 exhibits perfect catalysis properties. MnO2 nanorods and nanosheetswith different morphologies and different crystalline structures were dispersed in epoxy resin and the combustion performances of nanocomposites were investigated. Results indicated that α-nanosheets performed the best to inhibit the permeation of volatile gases.
