Self-emulsifying Waterborne Polyacrylate Emulsion

Self-emulsifying Waterborne Polyacrylate Emulsion

Researchers have been working on emulsifier free emulsion polymerization or polymerizable emulsifier to replace traditional emulsifiers in order to decrease problems caused by traditional emulsifiers such as high water uptake, decreasing gloss etc. Chinese researchers used SE-10 in synthesis of hydroxyl polyacrylate in order to substitute for the traditional emulsifier. hydroxyethyl methacrylate was used as hydroxyl monomer.

After optimizing reaction conditions, the core-shell structure of polyacrylate emulsion with a good appearance, low viscosity and a solid content of 46.5% was synthesized successfully. The hydroxyl polyacrylate exhibits good performance, which has great potential in development and application.
