Teknos to participate in a large research project to develop bio-based binders and coatings | Objective to enable nearly fully bio-based content in products

Coating manufacturer Teknos is participating in a project to develop bio-based binders and coatings as sustainable alternatives for fossil-based materials. The SUSBINCO project has been formed by a consortium of Finnish companies and research institutes with the aim of developing novel and bio-based product portfolios for manufacturing and commercialization in global markets. “Sustainable binders and coatings are becoming more and more important. To combat climate … Continue reading Teknos to participate in a large research project to develop bio-based binders and coatings | Objective to enable nearly fully bio-based content in products

Biorizon consortium to create bio-MPA-based alkyd coating that exceeds fossil counterpart in terms of performance, sustainability and resource efficiency

Biorizon’s Bio-Aromatics4Coatings (BA4C) consortium succeeded to develop bio-MPA-based alkyd coatings that exceed fossil PA-based coatings in terms of performance, sustainability and resource efficiency. Bio-MPA is expected to be produced at a price in the same order of magnitude as fossil PA. After the successful demonstration of bio-MPA at kg-scale, the consortium will further scale-up bio-MPA production and its application in coatings to (sub)industrial scale. Key … Continue reading Biorizon consortium to create bio-MPA-based alkyd coating that exceeds fossil counterpart in terms of performance, sustainability and resource efficiency

Cargill, IFPEN and Axens to collaborate to advance lactic-to-acrylic-acid technology

Cargill, IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) and Axens are joining forces to further develop and scale bio-based acrylic acid. The collaboration leverages Cargill’s experience with bio-based materials, IFPEN’s expertise in the field of catalyst and bioprocess development, and Axens’ catalyst manufacturing and industrial scale-up design process. The effort will focus on commercializing the Procter & Gamble (P&G) company’s lactic-to-acrylic-acid technology, which won the American Chemical Society 2020 Award … Continue reading Cargill, IFPEN and Axens to collaborate to advance lactic-to-acrylic-acid technology
